When I was 15 years old I got a really bad headache and began to feel really sick. I layed on the couch all day and my mom treated me for flu symptoms. I was getting worse and by the middle of the night I began vomiting. My temperature was 103. We could not control it and went to a clinic.
The doctor checked me out and gave me sinus medication. My neck was stiff and I could hardly walk. We went home but I could not breathe well or move by the time we got there.
I was on oxygen and could not move. I was rushed to sick kids hospital, they operated to drain the sinus pressure. I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 weeks and then went home with a pic line for 6 weeks. And medication for another 6 weeks. I travelled back to the hospital twice a week for a CAT scan because the infection was still in my sinus. After it was all over we did some research and a rare complication of a sinus infection is meningitis. The thing is, I never had a sinus infection before. I just cannot believe how I was playing hockey one night and so sick the next day already.
