The Meningitis Research Foundation of Canada will strive to raise funds to promote education and research in order to prevent death and disability from meningitis and other infections of the central nervous system.

Through education, we will:

• provide support and education to patients and their families affected by meningitis
• strive to increase public awareness of meningitis;
• promote better understanding of the disease among healthcare professionals

Through research, we will:

• provide funds for research into improved diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of meningitis

Currently the MRFC is providing funds for the second Fellow in Vaccinology at the Vaccine Evaluation Center, Vancouver, BC, under the supervision of Dr. David Scheifele. The first fellow has become a faculty member at the Department of Pediatrics, University of British Columbia. The MRFC is also providing funds to support a Fellow in Vaccinology at the Canadian Center for Vaccinology, Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS, under the supervision of Dr. Scott Halperin.
